About Key the Clown
The Key the Clown meme, also known as Clown Putting On Wig, features SHINee member Key putting on a Ronald McDonald wig. The two-panel format is commonly used to depict a sudden mood drop or the feeling of having to act funny for others despite feeling down.
The image comes from a video Key posted on Instagram on October 29, 2015, showing him putting on his Ronald McDonald costume. The two-panel meme gained popularity on Twitter on January 15, 2017, when user @youronlyace posted screenshots from the video.
