About Sleeping Shaq
The Sleeping Shaq meme is a multi-pane reaction template featuring retired basketball player Shaquille O’Neal in different states of wakefulness. Similar to the Expanding Brain meme, it is commonly used to compare levels of interest, awareness, or enthusiasm toward different topics.
The original sleeping photo was published by AdWeek in April 2009, while a 2016 edit showed Shaq waking up. The two images were later combined into the Sleeping Shaq format.
